Scam Alert:
Here are some recent scams that we have been made aware of. Please be free to call us for more details.
The Piano Store
It has come to our attention that there is a piano dealer in TX owned by Scott Covington that is being investigated for different unethical and allegedly illegal business practices. We do not know this person, or his operation. What are worse than the alleged charges made about this company are other piano dealers playing loose with the identity of who the Piano store is. It has come to our attention other dealers are leading potential buyers into believing that we at the Piano Superstore are some how connected, affiliated, or the same. This is not the case. Please be aware of dealers who would rather defame a competitor rather than simple compete with them on price, product, and service.
Online forums
The internet is a wonderful avenue to gain knowledge, information and understanding. We believe the internet has revolutionized the piano industry. While the internet can be used for a lot of good, it can also be used for a lot of bad. When you shop for your piano we recommend that you do all that you can to find out about the piano and the seller. Our motto has been that the most educated buyer will make the happiest owner. When doing so please be aware that there are online forums that competitors of the Piano Superstore go onto and pose as shoppers. They make disparaging remarks and slanderous accusations without ever revealing their identity. It has come to our attention of recent months that these people are manufacturing reps and dealers of a piano company here in the US. While we will tell you we do make mistakes, and fall short from time to time with our customer's expectations, it is very rare to find any who will complain in the end. Why? Because of our satisfaction policy. If a client is not satisfied we make it right. Please read out return/satisfaction policy for more details. We offer you the buyer more protection, and security in your purchase than your local dealer.
Ebay piano
Several years ago in an effort to try and scare customers from buying online a manufacturer sent a memo out offering a very cheap piano that was intentionally made of poor quality, design, and build. The piano was made with no name on the fallboard. This was done so that if a customer called in and said they saw a piano on eBay or online and would like to know if the dealer carried it, they could say yes we have one come look. The dealer would then apply a decal to the piano on the floor and use it to sell against to try and push his brands. This is highly unethical at best and illegal at worst. Please be aware of dealers who will try this trick. It is called in the business "nailed down piano". It is used all the time with dealers who sell Kawai and Yamaha. Yamaha dealer will buy a gray market Kawai (a piano sold directly from overseas), or Kawai dealer will buy Yamaha. In either case they will intentionally not have the pianoperforming well to sell against it. The best advice is never buy a piano from anyone who has to criticize a different brand or dealer to sell his.
